The AFL, in conjunction with its joint venture partner Port Adelaide Football Club has today announced the Round 11, St Kilda vs Port Adelaide match scheduled for May 31 in Shanghai, China will be relocated to Australia.

As a result, AFL Asia have announced that the 2020 Shanghai Cup scheduled for May 30 at Wellington College, will not go ahead.

The health and safety of the travelling parties was the number one priority in the decision to cancel the 2020 Shanghai Cup and to relocate the AFL match to Australia. The decision was made following advice from the Australian Government, the World Health Organization and the AFL’s Chief Medical Officer.

AFL Asia maintains a strong relationship with our clubs and members in China, and we look forward to working together for the remainder of the 2020 season, including International Cup and the Asian Championships.

In addition, the AFL maintains that their relationship with China is important, as it extends beyond the match-day and includes key relationships with government and the business community.
