8th Indochina Cup promises to be its biggest yet, says Thailand Tigers’ President

The Indochina Cup, to be held at Horseshoe Point, Pattaya (Thailand), on Saturday, 16 August, is shaping up to be the biggest tournament in its 8-year history.

This year we welcome the Myanmar Fighting Cocks for the first time to compete for the silverware with the Thailand Tigers, Laos Elephants, Cambodian Eagles and reigning champions, Vietnam Swans.

On the home front, the Thaigers have been working hard on the track this year and are poised to take their first Indochina Cup since 2009.

Another huge feature of ICC14 will be the inaugural appearance of the Indochina Indigenous All-Stars – a combined team of nationals from each country – to play against a combined Kangaroos team. While the All-Stars haven’t even played a game yet, they are already dreaming of the International Cup 2017 in Melbourne after gaining approval from the AFL to enter a combined side in the tournament.

And why wouldn’t they be confident with the secured services of 2006 Norm Smith Medalist – Andrew Embley as the team coach? Embley was keen to sign on after hearing of how the game was growing in the Indochina region and will be at Horseshoe Point to guide the team on 16 August.

Plus it’s great news for the Auskickers from the Bangkok Tigers and Pattaya Pirates, who will also get the chance to train with the West Eagles Premiership Player, as we run an Auskick session during the lunch break from 12.30.
