AFL Pakistan have announced that they will be hosting their annual National Footy Championships later this month, from December 23rd to December 26th in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is hoped that this year’s edition is the biggest since its inception.

Ten teams will compete in the three-day tournament, including the Baloch Hawks, Gujranwala Suns, Hussain Saints, Islamabad Tigers, Junoon Bombers, Multan Eagles, Pak Youngsters, Parachinar Giants, Rovers FC and the Sindh Dolphins. Three of these side will be making their national debuts.

The Hussain Saints, Pak Youngsters and Parachinar Giants will make their tournament debuts in this year’s AFL Pakistan National Footy Championships. Amazingly, the Sindh Dolphins will need to embark on a 14 hr, 1,183km journey to Islamabad just to compete in the tournament.

Since 2014, AFL Pakistan have hosted six National Footy Championships, with the Islamabad Tigers a dominant force as five-time champions, whilst the KPK Panthers are the only other team to have hoisted the trophy.

Football has grown tremendously well in Pakistan over the past few years and it is hoped that further growth of the game will continue participation-wise off the back of the National Championships.
