AFLW CHAMPS YEAR II – BIGGER AND BETTER

AFLW is going gangbusters and growing a rapid rate within AFL Asia football circles with a record 6
teams focusing their efforts towards uplifting the ultimate prize in Asia – The AFLW Asian
Championships trophy in less than 2 weeks time at the Thai Polo Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Thailand on Saturday August 31 st. The Cambodian Apsaras, Hong Kong Dragons, Malaysian Warrior Women’s and the Vietnam Lady Swans played in last year’s inaugural AFLW Asian Championships, with the Vietnam Lady Swans sneaking home in an exciting Grand Final to win the tournament in a game that captivated the entire AFL Asia community!

Malaysian Warriors vs Singapore Wombattes

The Singapore Wombettes recently made history taking on the Malaysian Warrior Women in their first ever international match. They’ll both be raring to go in Pattaya for this year’s champs!

2019 SEES 2 DEBUT TEAMS!

This year the Singapore Wombettes and the Thailand Tigers as hosts will be making their Asian Champs
debuts which is fantastic to see and will add another dimension to the ever-growing Women’s Division.
The camaraderie and spirit that exists within the Women’s teams is very unique and has laid some very
solid foundations during the infancy phase of developing Women’s football in Asia.

FURTHER GROWTH OF AFLW THROUGHOUT AFL ASIA

Elsewhere, the Bali Pink Geckos, Jakarta Women’s Bintangs and the Japan Mirais have also established new teams over the past 12 months and we expect more teams to be established within Asia over the
next 12 months.

With 6 teams participating at this year’s AFW Asian Champs we expect another fiercely played
tournament and would like to wish all of the Women’s teams the very best as their prepare for
greatness!
