October 13th – AFL Asia 2018 Asian Championships & Inaugural AFLW Asian Championships, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
ANZAC Day is one of the biggest days on the calendar for AFL and for Australian’s in general. Asian Football exists withing a region where several of Australia’s most meaningful ever military engagements occurred and enables Asian footy to stage games that pay tribute to both the bravery of Australia’s armed services personnel and those on all sides of these battles .
In 2019 several ANZAC Day matches are already scheduled with several more to be announced:
-Vietnam Swans vs Indonesian Volcanoes – Lord Mayors Oval, Vung Tau, Vietnam, 20th of April (note this game is the weekend prior due to a 4 day weekend in Vietnam on the 27th)
-Bali Geckos vs. Myanmar Shwe Chinethes – Bali, 27th of April
-Thailand Tigers vs. Singapore Wombats – Kanchanburi, Thailand, 27th of April
-IMPACT Osaka Dingoes ANZAC Day Cup – Osaka, Japan, 27th of April
The Shanghai Cup is back on a Saturday with the Port Power and St Kilda to play on Sunday alongside Asia’s best the Asian Lions and the China Dragons.
The Asian Championships are the pinnacle of AFL Asian Footy. Attracting teams from throughout the region in both Men’s (Division 1 & 2) and Women’s divisions. This year ‘the Champs’ will be held
New for 2019 is the Beachside Cup, bought to you by the legends at Beachside Boutique Resort Hoi An.
THE TOURNAMENT
The inaugural Beachside Cup will be contested between the:
- Vietnam Swans
- Hong Kong Dragons
- Singapore Wombats
- Malaysian Warriors
The four Mens teams will play a huge day of football in Hoi An on the 21st of September. We’re expecting 120+ participants and a big night down at Salt Pub.
FLIGHTS
You will need to fly in to Da Nang by Friday the 20th. Hoi An is a short drive south.
ACCOMMODATION
Beachside Hotel has an accommodation special, accessible by email to tu.nguyen@wideeyedtours.com. Mention the tournament and she’ll share the rates and arrangements. You’ll need accommodation for Friday 20 September and Saturday 21 September.
