While Australia’s golf star siblings Minjee and Min Woo Lee will soon make history teeing off at the Paris Olympics, they might also be keeping one eye on AFL results from Western Australia.

Minjee, #11 in the women’s Olympic Golf Ranking, and her younger brother Min Woo (#36) are the first siblings to represent Australia in golf – an incredible feat for the Perth-based Lee family who emigrated from South Korea in the early 1990s.

Min Woo is a passionate supporter of Fremantle Dockers in the AFL, while Minjee is an Honorary Club Member of South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL).

Min Woo has attended Dockers games and spent time in the change rooms after matches. He told the The West Australian that he played golf with Dockers players including Andrew Brayshaw.

‘I’m a big Freo supporter,’ Min Woo said. ‘And I love footballers that play golf so I’ve hung out with them a bit.’

He has also teed up with Melbourne Demons stars Christian Petracca and Steven May.

Minjee told the ABC that representing her country is a special experience.

‘I know week-in, week-out… we represent Australia but we’re not playing for Australia.

‘I feel like it’s just a little bit different… You just got to be there to experience it.’

The Paris Olympics competition is only the fifth time golf has been an Olympic sport, and just the third time since 1904. The men play August 1-4 at Le Golf National, while the women play August 8-11.
