Adam Norton is the Finance & Administration Officer for the Jakarta Bintangs and AFL Indonesia. Below, he writes to the 500 Club Members (of which AFL ASIA is a member) about the Garudas’ final hit out before the AFL’s 2014 International Cup.
Dear 500 Club Members,
We are nearing the final stages for preparing the Indonesia Garudas for their international debut at the 2014 AFL International Cup. We thank you for your ongoing support.
Saturday, 19 July, 2014 will mark an important date in AFL Indonesia’s history when those Indonesian Garudas who have been selected to play at IC14 will have a final hit-out with the Jakarta Bintangs at Cibibur.
The event will continue downstairs at Fez Bar Kemang, where the Garudas will be presented with their IC14 playing guernseys, sponsors will be acknowledged and we will celebrate all the hard-working contributors who have made this quest possible.
This will be a memorable event not to be missed!
Coach Adam Bray adds…
That the game against the Bintangs on 19 July is “arguably the most important game in the history of AFL Indonesia” given it will be played by the official squad that will travel to Melbourne next month for their inaugural appearance at the International Cup.
“The squad will feature reps from Borneo, Bandung, Bogor, Jakarta and Bali – together as a complete unit for the first time. The Garudas are looking to take it to the Bintangs and beat them for the first time in a full length match.
“Garudas have been doing plenty of fitness work lately so the more ‘experienced’ Tangs could be in for a rough 80 minutes!! Go Garudas!”
