The Pakistan Markhors (previously Islamabad Dashers) held their formal launch on AFL Grand Final Day, 28 September 2013.

The Markhors debuted at the 2014 ANZAC Commemorative Match in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, which is hosted by the Thailand Tigers.

They have a database of 500 to try and draw players from. They also have full support from the Australian Embassy.

The Markhors are in discussions with Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka to play games. They hope at some stage to be able to travel to East Asia for a friendly match. They do not expect so many teams to travel to Pakistan.

The Markhors are keeping a keen eye on the possibility of Richmond (and AFL) playing a NAB Cup match in Mumbai in February 2014 and the opportunity that they may be able to promote AFL Asia under that banner.

*While not an official member of AFL Asia, the Club President is a former member of the Jakarta Bintangs and AFL Asia is keen to offer whatever support we can to support this new club.
