It’s very rare that footy is played on a weekday, however tomorrow is a Pakistani National Holiday to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day and it’s an AFL Pakistan Game Day.
AFL Pakistan invested in an Under 15’s program in 2019 and now have 3 teams who will contest in their first ever Under 15’s National Championships, which will be held next month in Islamabad. Tomorrow will see an Under 15’s clash take place between the ISB Falcons and the Junoon Bombers, whilst the Tigers Fc were unable to play due to logistical issues.
COVID-19 stalled games, tours and tournaments right across the region last year, however it’s extraordinary to believe that the 2020 AFL Pakistan AFLW National Championships Grand Final has been postponed until now and will be finally played tomorrow between the Tigers Fc and the VNQFC (VIQAR-UN-NISA).
The Tigers Fc are one of the strongest clubs across all formats within Pakistan and are a leader and a key pillar in growing and developing the game at grassroots level, whilst the VNQFC Queens are a government college-based team in Rawalpindi. Best of luck to both teams in what will be an exciting Grand Final after such a long wait.
In the senior men’s game, the Rovers FC will travel 200km from the Khyber Pakhtunkkhwa region to take on the home side Tigers Fc and in what promises to be a fantastic battle and the perfect opportunity for both sides to prepare themselves ahead of next month’s AFL Pakistan National Championships, which will be held in the nation’s capital of Islamabad in the last week of March.
10 teams from across the country will take part in the annual AFL Pakistan National Championships, including two teams from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azai Jammu, Kashmir, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
