For years the Macau Lightning Australian Football Club have struggled to get regular access to grounds in Macau to train and play Footy on. Seniors training, Macau Auskick and South China AFL games have all been affected. That is all about to change!

Last Saturday 18th October saw the Grand Opening of the new playing field at the TIS International School of Macau. The school had a vision of having the biggest and best open green space for their students to learn, play and have access to on a daily basis.

The large grass field is the only of its kind in Macau and a real asset to the school. The Macau Lightning have been very fortunate to have a connection to the project with input from Lightning Founding Member Marcus Swetnam, being influential in the design and workability of the facility. TIS and The Lightning have close ties with the majority of the Macau Auskick programme attending the school, many of the senior squad being parents of students and even current teachers at the school playing in the senior playing squad.

We can’t thank TIS Head, Howard Stribbell and everyone at TIS enough for making this dream a reality and the real winners are the students of TIS who have a truly amazing facility to use and enjoy every day. The Lightning players can’t wait to start using the faciilty!
