Fantastic to see Connor Downie back amongst the action this afternoon with the Hawthorn Football Club.

Connor made AFL history in Round 1 of the 2021 season by becoming the first ever player to debut in the Medical Substitute vest and to not be activated onto the field.

Whilst Connor has had to bide his time in the Victorian Football League (VFL) since making his debut, he held his own in his second AFL game collecting 12 disposals and 2 marks.

Connor is very proud of his Chinese heritage from his mother’s side of the family and we were fortunate enough to interview him on our #howgoodsfootyinasia podcast earlier in the year.

Click on the link below to find out more about Connor’s upbringing, his football journey and his mature outlook on life. He’s a star on the rise!
