The Beijing Bombers AFL All-Stars match between the Chaoyang FuErDai and Dongcheng Derros lived up to all of its big hype billing, as it became a nail biting goal fest!
The inter-district Beijing showdown went down to wire with Chaoyang getting the chocolates in a thriller 14.7 (91) to 14.6 (90).
Amazingly the family-friendly and carnival-type atmosphere match featured 34 males, 6 females and 8 children, which is an outstanding result considering football in the nation’s capital was in a crippling-like state pre-COVID-19 and has been resurrected during the pandemic.
The Dongcheng Derros and Chaoyang FuErDai will have a Austcham Beijing supported rematch on AFL Grand Final Day, where it is hoped their Nanjing-based contingent of players will be able to attend, if travel restrictions are eased.
