Lao Elephants trunks are up to win the Cup

All at the Elephants were expecting big things in 2015 and we have failed to deliver so far but we see the Asian Champs as our perfect chance for redemption. The players have been training the house down in anticipation for October 17th and are all excited to have a crack at trying to win the clubs first piece of silverware since the 2009 IndoChina Cup.

Coach and Captains thoughts:

“Our playing group is forever changing due to work commitments and players moving from Lao. This year we seem to have a younger playing group (both Lao and expat) than previous years and it’s good to see some players back from 2013 and 2014. The club is proud of our Lao national players and the skills they have developed over the last 2 years, and to send 2 players to play for WA team Wanneroo in July was a great achievement for the club and players”
Craig Quigg, Lao Elephants Coach

“We have one of our strongest playing squads in my 4 years at the Elephants. Since Augusts Indochina Cup we have been training as much as possible and its great to see the passion in the boys and hopefully we can get some wins this weekend. I am excited and feel privileged to be leading us into battle this weekend”
Steve Chapman, Lao Elephants Captain

Presidents thoughts:

“The Lao Elephants football club has been trying their hardest to develop our local players to a level where they can compete with the best. For this years Asian Champs we are bringing 5 of our best local talents and we are expecting big things from our local Lao boys and cant wait to once again see them in action. We have players back in the fold after a few years in exile and are generally excited about our chances at this years champs. For the decision to be made amongst all clubs to create 2 separate divisions is a massive plus for the lower ranked teams and a big tick for AFL Asia to listen to what we wanted. A special thank you must go to Jazza, Al, Blade and everyone at the Tigers for all their hard work in once again organising this years champs. Good Luck to all teams on Saturday”
Steve Chapman, Lao Elephants President
