Philippine Eagles – Are Ready to Soar!
The Philippines Eagles are excited about the 2015 Asian Championships. After a mixed year of results, they are still confident to maintain their success of finishing in the finals of the Asian champs as they have done so in 2103 & 2014. While back in May they lost to Vietnam by 1 point in the in a hard fought Manila Cup Final, they still made history by beating the Hong Kong Dragons for the first time in the history of the club. Lead by arguably the best player in Asian Football, the Philippine eagles are committed to success at this years Asian Championships and are ready for hard and tough games with the goal to bring back the Philippines first Asian Champs Title.
Captain’s thoughts:
The Eagles are extremely excited about this year’s champs, as the standard of football in Asia raises each year. The new formed division will be a highly competitive one and every team must produce their best footy each game to get through. After another solid year of our local PAFL games, we have a great blend of youth and experience building towards a bright and promising future for the Philippines.
Evan Spargo | Captain -Philippine Eagles
President’s thoughts:
It has been a good year for the Philippine Eagles with a re-focus on the team after a busy 2014 hosting two major tournaments. While we were disappointed with the 1 point lost to Vietnam in the Grand Final of one of the hardest Manila Cups in recent years, it has provided motivation to the Eagles squad to train harder and commit to the end of season goal of Victory at the Asian Champs. With the booming Philippine economy we have been fortunate once again to have new and exciting guys join the Eagles as we head to Bangkok with the a team we believe will be strong and competitive continue our success making finals at the Asian Champs.
On behalf of the PAFL, a big thanks to the Thaigers for hosting the event and to AFL Asia Committee for their increase involvement in developing footy across Asia, especial Grant Keys and Daren Whitfield. How Good is Footy in Asia!
