The Guangzhou Scorpions celebrate their 2014 SCAFL Season at McCawley’s Pub (club sponsor) in Guangzhou yesterday.
Yesterday, the Guangzhou Scorpions celebrated their success in the SCAFL (South China Australian Football League) this year where they made it through to the Grand Final. It’s also just over a month before they will be hitting Melbourne for the AFL’s International Cup (IC14).
Scorpions’ President, Aaron Hardcastle, says that the presentation was held at club sponsor, McCawley’s Irish Pub. He added that it was a “great day and so good to spend it with the fastest growing club in Asia. How good is footy in China!!!”
Secretary of the SCAFL and Vice President / Treasurer of AFL Asia, Darren Whitfield also congratulated the Scorpions on a great year.
He told the Scorpions that they “did yourselves proud! It was a great moment three weeks ago when you beat the 2013SCAFL Premiers in the Semi Finals to get into the 2014 Grand Final. And then you came home so strongly at the end of the Grand Final!
“It’s also great news to hear about the confirmation of the China IC14 team for August!
“I’m looking forward to seeing how you guys go down in Melbourne! Hopefully you will get some good publicity in Australia and at home in China!
“…and keep training hard for IC14!”
