Never in the history of Asian football has there ever been a bigger fairy-tale story than the AFL Pakistan Markhors, who came from the clouds to take out the Aussie Divers Phuket – PADI Division 3 title.
The Pakistan Markhors ‘Mighty Ducks’ storyline gained an enormous amount of momentum internally and from neutral supporters alike due to their passionate teamwork, ferocious tackling and athleticism as they continued to take down their scalps throughout the tournament.
By the time the Pakistan Markhors took the field for the Aussie Divers Phuket & PADI Asia Pacific Division 3 Grand Final against the Lao Elephants the atmosphere was electric as the Markhors stormed the heavily loaded Elephants by 23 points with an inspirational performance that will go down in Asian footy folklore forever.
Meanwhile, during the Aussie Divers Phuket & PADI Asia Pacific Division 3, the Cambodian Eagles recorded a 2-1 record before eventually going down to the Markhors in their semi final clash. The Thailand Tigers had a 1-1 record as well as a drawn match against the Markhors, before losing their Semi Final against the Laos Elephants. The Singapore Wombats and Vietnam Swans went winless from three attempts, but optimized the Division 3 age and ability demographics.
All in all, a fantastic result to see the Pakistan Markhors create their own piece of AFL Asia football history by winning the Aussie Divers Phuket & PADI Asia Pacific Division 3 trophy in their inaugural Asian Champs!
