The highly motivated and focused Thailand Tigers have taken home their first-ever Asian Champs silverware after hoisting the 2022 APRIL International Division 2 trophy.
The Thaigers painted Bangkok in yellow and black after their undefeated campaign, which saw them run the gauntlet against all of the Division 2 teams before they easily accounted for the HK Dragons in the April International Division 2 Grand Final by 21 points.
The Thailand Tigers celebrated their 25th year anniversary in style after easily defeating the AFL Indonesia Volcanoes by 38 points, the HK Dragons by 33 points, the Philippine Australian Football League Eagles by 26 points and the Malaysian Warriors by 29 points.
Other than Thailand Tigers triumphantly defeating all opposition in the wake, the HK Dragons had a 3-1 campaign, whilst if the Malaysian Warriors (2-2) had beaten the Dragons in the final preliminary game they may have advanced into the April International Grand Final. The Indonesian Volcanoes (1-3) registered their only victory against the Philippine Eagles (0-4) who are rebuilding their squad after being the hardest hit of any club in Asia during the pandemic.
Given that three of the sides competing in the April International Division 2 had previously featured as Division 1 sides, it makes the Thailand Tigers trophy-winning breakthrough all that more deserved.
