The AFL Grand Final is as important as any date on the Australian sporting calendar and will serve more importance than ever in a year whereby so many people have been affected by the global pandemic of COVID-19, with the AFL season in general being a savior, an outlet, a form of normality and something to look forward to in what has been a miserable year for so many people.
AFL Grand Final Events have long been a tradition throughout Asia, with many clubs relying on them as a major fundraising opportunity and are often celebrated with football icons, who play the role of guest speaker.
Unfortunately these particular opportunities have been taken out of the hands of Asian football clubs due to government restrictions on public gatherings associated with COVID-19 in certain countries. Rather than sit and dwell, we’d prefer to promote those clubs who have been able to organise an AFL Grand Final Event, albeit not to the level they traditionally have been in the past.
No matter who you support, the 2020 AFL Grand Final will be like no other and will be remembered in football folklore for a long time to come regardless of the result.
